This extension is designed to add the Google Tag Manager code snippets (the <script> code snippet before the closing <\head> tag, the <noscript> code snippet immediately after the opening <body> tag) into every page of your OpenCart website.

Step 1

    A. Create a new Google Tag Manager account and container at tagmanager.google.com. (A new container is created by default,

    and you can create additional containers within each account.)

    1.1 In Tag Manager, click Accounts and then Create account.

    1.2 Enter an account name and optionally indicate whether you'd like to share data anonymously with Google and others.

    1.3 Click Continue.

    1.4 Enter a descriptive container name and select the Web type of content.

    1.5 Click Create.

    1.6 Review the Terms of Service and click Yes if you agree to those terms.


    B. Or add a new container to an existing account at tagmanager.google.com.

    1.1 In Tag Manager, click Accounts and then More next to the relevant account name.

    1.2 Choose Create Container.

    1.3 Enter a descriptive container name and select the type of content: Web, AMP, Android, or iOS. If setting up a mobile container, select whether you're using the Firebase SDK or one of the legacy SDKs.

    1.4 Click Create.

    1.5 Review the Terms of Service and click Yes if you agree to those terms.


Step 2

    A. Installing by the Extension Installer - OCMOD (Admin Panel)

    Attention! You need to specify your FTP credentials on the store settings page to use the Extension Installer in OpenCart 2.0.1.0-2.3.0.2.

    2.1 Go to the administration menu "Extensions > Installer" and upload the zip file (g-tag-manager-vX.X-ocXXXX.ocmod.zip).

    2.2 (For OpenCart 2.0.1.0-2.3.0.2 only) Go to "Extensions > Modifications" and click Refresh button in the top right corner.


    B. Installing by a File Manager - VQMOD (Hosting Control Panel, FTP Manager)

    2.1 Uncompress the zip file (g-tag-manager-vX.X-ocXXXX.vqmod.zip).

    2.2 Upload the unzipped⁠ content (admin, catalog and vqmod folders) to your site's root directory.


    C. Installing by the OpenCart Marketplace (For OpenCart 3.0.0.0 and above only)

    Attention! You need to specify your OpenCart API information on the Extension Marketplace page to use this type of installation.

    2.1 Go to the download tab of the marketplace extension page.

    2.2 Click Install button opposite the download with CLOUD name (CLOUD Google Tag Manager vX.X OCXXXX).


Step 3

    3.1 Go to the administration menu:

    - in OpenCart 2.0.0.0-2.0.3.1 go to "System > Settings > Store" click Edit button and go to the Google tab.

    - in OpenCart 2.1.0.1 and above go to "Extensions (> Extensions) > Analytics" click Install button and click Edit button

    3.2 Set the Status option to Enabled.

    3.3 Paste your Google Tag Manager Head and Body code snippets.

        How to get the Head and Body code snippets:

        - go to your Google Tag Manager account and click Workspace;

        - near the top of the window, find your container ID, formatted as "GTM-XXXXXX";

        - click your container ID to launch the Install Tag Manager box;

        - copy the code snippets.

    3.4 Click Save button in the top right corner.
